Actor and stand-up comedian Richard Lewis (75) has finished stand-up after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It writes BBC.
In a video on Twitter, Lewis says that he was diagnosed two years ago.
– Pain all the time
– I’m done with stand up, I’m just focusing on writing and acting. I have Parkinson’s, but the doctor takes care of me, everything is cool and I love my wife, my puppy, all my friends and my fans, says the 75-year-old.
Furthermore, the star explains that his health has been up and down in the last three years. He has operated four times, including a back and shoulder operation.
After feeling strange in his body after the operations, he consulted a neurologist. After a brain scan, the comedian was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s is caused by cells in the brain that help control movements being destroyed, according to PEDIATRIC.
About the disease: – No cure
The disease leads to slow and sluggish movement, an increased degree of stiffness in the arms and legs, and tremors at rest. Such tremors particularly affect the hands.
Lewis became a familiar face from the stand-up scene in the 80s. In addition to several shows on stage, he has been seen on screen in TV series such as “Code Black”, and voices the character Ziggy Alber in the cartoon “BoJack Horseman”.
