Actor Ray Stevenson, known for the films Thor and RRR, dies at the age of 58.

Actor Ray Stevenson died at the age of 58 on Sunday (21/5). However, the cause of death of the Irish actor is not yet known.

Stevenson will die just four days before his 59th birthday on May 25.

Variety confirmed the news of Stevenson’s death through his publicist representative on Monday (22/5).

Ray Stevenson is an actor who started his career playing in television series, starting with A Woman’s Guide to Adultery (1993) and The Dwelling Place (1994). Meanwhile, he marked his film debut through The Theory of Fight in 1998.

He just got a big role in the film when starring in King Arthur (2004) as Dagonet who is one of the Knights of the Round Table.

Stevenson then landed his feet in one of the Marvel films when starring in Punisher: War Zone (2008) as Frank Castle aka Punisher. He is listed as the third actor to play the Punisher on the big screen.

However, Stevenson did not return to playing the character when the Punisher appeared in the Netflix version of Daredevil.

After that, Stevenson entered the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Volstagg, one of Thor’s best friends, played by Chris Hemsworth.

Volstagg’s character appears in the films Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Thor: Ragnarok.

One of Ray Stevenson’s last filmography is the film RRR (2022) which won an Oscar for the Best Original Song nomination.

In the film, Stevenson plays Governor Scott Buxton during the British colonization of India.

Apart from these films, Stevenson has also starred in Kill the Irishman (2011), GI: Joe: Retaliation (2013), Divergent (2014), to The Transporter: Refueled.

The actor born in 1965 also starred in a number of other series, such as Rome (2005-2007), Reef Break (2019), Vikings (2020), to voice the character Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels (2016-2017) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2020).
