CHENNAI: Actor Ranjith, who said that honor killings are not acts of violence, has come forward with a justification that his words were misinterpreted by the media. The actor said there was no right to honor killing. He also asked how one can justify honor killing and should not make unnecessary allegations against him. Ranjith is a well-known Malayalam actor for his villainous roles in films like Rajamanikyam, Chandraotsavam and Natturaajav.
The actor’s controversial statement was made while talking to the media after the release of his latest film Kavundampalayam.
“Only parents know the pain their children are going through. If a bike is stolen, don’t we investigate what happened? Parents who devote their lives to their children will be angry. It is not violence. Just take care of them’, said Ranjith. Strong criticism was made against what was said. Individuals and groups fighting against honor killings have come out against the actor’s statement.
