“Milan Stehlík died in a medical facility outside Prague,” Tomáš Staněk, a spokesman for the National Theater, told the News on Monday.

Stehlík was born in 1944 into an artistic family, his father was director and playwright Miloslav Stehlík, mother actress Věra Budilová. He studied at DAMU and joined the Municipal Theaters of Prague. He later moved to the National Theater, where he worked for almost forty years. He played in pieces such as Richard III., Lakomec, The Servant of Two Masters or Rok na vesi.

He has also appeared in films such as The Prince and the Poor, The Naughty Fairy Tale, The Robber’s Fairy Tale, Shepherds’ Night, The Beautiful Witch and most recently in The English Strawberries.

He has occasionally played minor roles in television series such as The 30 Cases of Major Zeman, Evil Blood, Sins for Father Knox, Arabel Returns, and Doctor Martin.

He also dubbed the character of Vilík in the series Včelka Mája.
