On Saturday, November 7, Latvian actor Leons Krivāns passed away, according to the statement of his daughter on the social network “Facebook”.
Information from the archives of the agency LETA shows that Krivāns was born on April 17, 1938. In 1962, he graduated from the 3rd studio of the Daile Theater and together with Olga Dreģis, Lidija Pupuri, Ilze Vazdiks, Jānis Filipsons and other artists joined the large ensemble, reproducing various characters. Gradually, his ability to create vivid characters became apparent, and the directors accepted his excellent sense of humor.
Since 1961, Krivāns has been filming in Riga film studios mainly in episodic roles. He has won acclaim for his comic roles in “Captain Enrico’s Clock” and “A Gift for a Lonely Woman.”
Actors could also be seen in episodic roles in such films as the 1961 “Willow Gray Flowers”, the 1966 “Swamp Wader”, the 1968 film “Surveyors’ Times”, the 1972 film “Vella’s Servants in the Vella Mill” and the 1982 ” Forgotten things ”.
In recent years, Krivāns has delighted the audience in the performances of Jānis Jurkāns’ “Dzīvīte, Dzīvīte” and Ēriks Hānbergs “The First Bay of Sin” and “Bald and Half-naked”, where the ensemble of old masters of Daile Theater met and performed various characters.
On March 27, 2018, Krivāns became an officer of the Order of the Cross of Recognition.
