Although the police and rescuers are carrying out all kinds of search efforts, so far they have not been able to find the 65-year-old actor who went missing in the Saint Gabriel Mountains area.
48 hours after the search for the missing man began, his hiking companion, 75-year-old Los Angeles resident Yin Chung, was found in the mountains. The man had a leg injury and various weather damage, but is alive.
Sands has still not been found; now a police helicopter is also involved in the search. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department tweeted that it would use a California Highway Patrol helicopter equipped with a device capable of detecting “reflective material, electronics and in some cases credit cards.”
The police have been urging people not to hike in the mountains of the area for several weeks, as several avalanches have been recorded. Earlier, the search for Sands was hampered by strong storms.
Julian Sands is a British actor who has been living in Los Angeles for a long time, where he is married to the writer Yevgenia Citkowitz, and their two children have grown up in the family. Another Sands child was born in his first marriage to British journalist and TV personality Sarah Sands.
The actor’s family released a statement thanking the “heroic search team working under difficult circumstances to bring Julian home.”
The actor has three brothers, and one of them said that he has already said goodbye to Julian: “I have come to terms with the fact of his departure.”
Julian Sands starred in dozens of movies, including the drama “Farewell to Las Vegas”.
