This role gave him fame among people he wasn’t looking for. In fact, in a conversation with the radio show, he confessed that it was difficult to get out of this character, but that a new production came out and it would be his opportunity to take a new step.

“I had just finished making ‘Perro amor’ and, supposedly, we had already talked about continuing to make more soap operas, not like this one, but flirting here and there,” he confessed.
However, he hinted that it is a complicated process to portray a physically handsome man. “I like having pimples, I like eating and being chubby,” Arango explained in the interview.
The comedian also claimed that he would not be able to play ‘Hugo Lombardi’, as they wanted him to continue acting as a TV heartthrob. However, without losing his determination, he fought to win the casting.
“I heard that they were doing a casting for a gay fashion designer. With that I said that I can break the ‘Love Dog’. I remember that I recorded myself on a video camera and sent the tape to Mario Rivero”he confessed.
“I said I could play that character. They said no, because RCN wants you to keep playing the ‘dog’. I screwed around a lot, something I never do, and I succeeded,” he added.
He even explained that he tried hard to show them another side of him, which is how he managed to get the role of ‘Hugo Lombardi’.
