Actor Jorge Silvestre, Cinema Jove’s ‘A Future of Cinema’ Award

VALENCIA, 10 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The 37th edition of Cinema Jove will award the ‘A Future of Cinema’ Award to actor Jorge Silvestre, who has worked on films such as ‘Amar’ (Esteban Crespo) and ‘Asamblea’ (Álex Montoya), and television series such as ‘Gigantes’ ( Movistar Plus) and ‘Alba’ (Antena 3).

Attentive since its inception to the discovery of new values of the Spanish audiovisual industry, Cinema Jove has granted this recognition in previous editions to names that are highly consecrated today such as Elena Anaya, Marta Etura, Carlos Areces or Leticia Dolera.

“It is a pride for me to receive this award, since the actors who have received it before have developed an incredible career, and also because this is a festival to which I feel frankly attached as a spectator,” says the interpreter in a statement.

“In addition, -he continues– I am much more excited to be, in some way, the relief of Paula Usero, who received this same award last year. She is a great colleague and friend, to whom I owe having gotten my first role. in the cinema, in the movie ‘Amar’. She and the actress Begoña Comitre talked about me in the casting, and that’s how they quoted me and this adventure began”, commented the actor”.

A self-confessed admirer of filmmakers such as Carla Simón, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Joachim Trier and Thomas Vinterberg, Silvestre acknowledges that he has a special weakness for anti-hero roles.

“I like characters that have everything to be rejected, but at the same time have characteristics that make the audience empathize with them. Those types of characters that dig a little into one’s discomfort and are politically incorrect,” he declares.

To bring viewers closer to the work of Jorge Silvestre, the festival will screen three representative short films from his short but promising career on July 1 at 10:30 p.m. The Valencian actor will hold a meeting with the public at the València Filmoteca in that same session.

‘When you do pop’ (2021), a film directed by Edu Hirschfeld and Kevin Castellano, was premiered at the last edition of Cinema Jove.

In it, Silvestre shares a cast with the Valencian Paula Usero, also recognized with the ‘A Future of Cinema’ Award. In this movie, two girls whose music group is hired to play at a festival get lost in the middle of nowhere.

The second title is ‘La Sangre Seca’ (2020), an experimental short film shot by Álex Llovera in super 8 and in black and white. Lastly, the festival will present ‘Socials’ (2019), this time focusing on the world of social networks.

“VERY MARKED PERSONALITY”

“In these three short films, Silvestre shows a very marked personality and great versatility when it comes to facing roles and cinematographic styles of a very different nature. Little by little, the industry is taking note of his talent, giving him greater acting weight in feature films “, explains the director of the contest, Carlos Madrid.

Jorge Silvestre’s name is linked to two important projects that will see the light of day in the coming months: the vampire comedy ‘Hollyblood’ (Jesús Font), which will be released in theaters on July 22, and the television series ‘La ruta ‘ (ATRESplayer), which portrays the social phenomenon of electronic music in Valencia from the late eighties to the early nineties.
