Actor John Leddy, best known for the TV series Zeg’ns Aaa, died on Sunday. His family said on Monday. Leddy turned 92 years old. For years he played the role of Koos Dobbelsteen in the TV series.
According to his family, he died in Den Bosch hospital on December 25, in the presence of his family, after a short illness.
John Leddy is survived by his wife Jannig Leddy (to whom he was married for 53 years), his five children and eleven grandchildren. The funeral will take place later at a private club in Heusden, where he has lived for the past fifty years.
The comedy series Zeg’ns Aaa was on television from 1981 to 1993. The series was about events in general practice and the personal life of Dr. Lydie van der Ploeg (Sjoukje Hooymaayer). Koos Dobbelsteen was the husband of the housekeeper Mien Dobbelsteen (Carry Tefsen). The series was one of the most popular programs in the Netherlands at the time.

Actress Carry Tefsen calls John Leddy’s death “terribly unfortunate”. “It was a time in our lives, we’ve worked together for so many years,” Tefsen said in a reaction to the ANP.
He also says you can expect it when you’re old. “However, you are faced with the facts,” says Tefsen.
Actor and theater producer Hans Cornelissen says he has fond memories of Leddy. Cornelissen played Zeg’ns Aaa Gert-Jan van der Ploeg. “He was a lovable man. He was successful in television, but he also had a penchant for small theaters. He was very diverse.”
