Actor John Aylward has died of natural causes at the age of 75.. According to the American media, it happened this morning in Seattle, his hometown. The actor was known for playing big roles in series like Urgenica (1994) o The West Wing of the White House (1999). A large part of his professional career was developed in television series, but he also participated in great films such as Three Fugitives (1989), Armaggedon (1998) o 13 Days (2000).
Many remember him for his role as Dr. Donald Anspaugh in emergencies. A highly successful series from the 90s and early 2000s in which the actor participated throughout its 15 seasons. The series, set in a Chicago hospital emergency room and starring Geroge Clooneycaptivated more than 30 million weekly viewers and was awarded 4 Emmy Awards at the Golden Globe in 1998.
Aylward is also recognized for his great interpretation of Barry Goodwin en The West Wing of the White House. Another emblematic series recognized with 3 Golden Globes and 26 Emmy Awards. It is a fiction in which the actor plays the president of the National Democratic Convention and collaborates with the president of the United States. Other successful and more contemporary series in which we have been able to see him are American Horror History o Mad Men.
Although much of his work has been developed in television series, he has also participated in well-known cinema films. The most famous is undoubtedly Armageddonstarring Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck. But he has also participated in the emblematic Three Fugitives or Three Days starring Kevin Costner.
His last appearance on the big screen was in The way back (2020), the sports drama with Ben Affleck as the lead. His representative, Mitchell K. Stubbs, publicly says goodbye to him with these words: “He was a wonderful actor and a phenomenal human being.. A great friend to many. He was proud of his work in film and television, although he was in the theater where he was happiest”.
