Actor John Aprea has died – News

John Aprea was born on March 4, 1941 in Englewood, New Jersey to a family of Italian immigrants. He played football in high school, later worked in his parents’ store, at a gas station, as a bartender and as a truck driver.

He began his acting career with a small role in the 1968 crime film The Bullitt Case. He later appeared in The Grasshopper (1970) or Sweet Kill (1973) and soon followed the film The Godfather II, which brought him his greatest recognition. He played the young Salvatore Tessio in the film directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

Later, Aprea was a gangster twice more, in the NBC miniseries The Gangster Chronicles (1981) and in the film In the clutches of the yakuza (2000).

He also appeared in The Stepford Wives (1975), Crazy Mama (1975), Drug Empire (1991), The Game (1997), Dead on University (1998) and many others. But his roles were mostly not the main ones.

He also has a number of series to his credit, including The Godfather (1997), Tales from the Dark (1983), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1986), Our First Christmas (1988), The Sopranos (1999), Cases Shelved (2009), Las Vegas (2013) and others.

In the late 1960s, Aprea married actress Cherie Latimer. They later divorced. In 1987, he married Ninon Zenovich, with whom he has a daughter, Nicole. They divorced in 1998. His last life partner was Betsy Graciová, with whom he spent twenty-five years.
