This summer, the actor Jānis Āmanis surprised the public with an unexpected decision – leaving the Latvian National Theatre. In conversation with Andri Buli in the program “When they meet”, the actor reveals that he was inspired to make such a decision by a special woman who was by his side at the right moment and strengthened his self-confidence.

Actor Jānis Āmanis had spent 16 years on the theater stage, simultaneously filming in various television and cinema projects. A month before the new season, he submitted his resignation, ending his acting profession forever. He thought about the decision to leave the theater for a long time, but the last push was given by an inspiring woman who was by his side in a difficult moment.

“It was a longer time communicating with this woman. Several conversations. More and more I began to understand my self-confidence. A man raises the self-confidence of a woman, and a woman raises the self-confidence of a man. And it’s actually a big problem these days. In fact, women cannot be called the weaker sex, because they are much stronger. Starting at least with what happens to them every month – I wonder if a man would be able to bear it…” – wonders Jānis.

He says that he has only a friendly relationship with this special woman, and agrees that only friendship can exist between a man and a woman. “She was by my side in difficult moments. Thank her for that,” he says.
