Actor Jacques Perrin dies – Novinky.cz

“The family reports with great sorrow the loss of filmmaker Jacques Perrin, who died in Paris on Thursday, April 21. He left peacefully at the age of 80,” the family said in a statement.

Perrin was born on June 13, 1941. During his long career, he starred in more than 70 films, the first time he appeared in front of the camera in 1946 in the film Gates of the Night. He is best known for the films Half Man, The Misses of Rochefort, The Black Robe for a Murderer, The Word of a Cop and Bio Paradise. In addition to filming, he also devoted himself to theater, attracting attention in the early 1960s, when he played alongside Claudia Cardinal or Marcello Mastroianni.

Another of Perrin’s works was the documentaries on the natural history of Microcosm (1996) and Bird World (2001) – for the first of which he won a César as a producer, and the second was nominated for an Oscar in the documentary category.

His latest film role in the French thriller Goliath in March this year reflected his bitter struggle for the environment, writes AFP. In the drama about pesticides and their effects on humans, Perrin joins a lobbyist played by Pierre Niney.

For his contribution to French cinema, Perrin earned the Order of Merit and the Order of the Legion of Honor. He is survived by three sons, two of whom are also acting.
