Actor in Juris Streng’s book My Accounting summarizes events about theater and life / Day

In the book, as in the episodes of the film, which are united by a theatrical plot and absurd drama, the actor himself always plays the main role on the stage of feelings, thoughts and memories.

“My life is a book of expenses, income and events,” the book describes Juris Strenga.

Since the fifties of the last century, when Juris Strengs Daile started participating in Eduards Smiļģis’ performances, he has been writing notes about the theater, himself and what is going on around him. The actor leaves notes on copies of plays or scripts, entrusts his thoughts to pocket notebooks and old school notebooks, where it is practically impossible to decipher what is written today.

Actor Juris Streng’s unspeakable love of the audience is still gained in the seventies of the last century with his main role in Ibsen’s drama Brands At the Daile Theater in 1975, maintaining this recognition in the stories and legends of theater lovers today.

Ilmārs Blumbers’ scenography gives the production a deep philosophical sound, and Blumbergs insists on director Arnolds Liniņš – only Strenga will play Brandu!

Everything coincides here – collaboration with the then assistant director Kārlis Auškāpas, Strenga’s acting charm, the ensemble’s collegiality and the stylistic unity of the show’s genre. Music for the show is written by Raimonds Pauls.

My accounting does not hesitate in the shadow of glory moments, but there is a documentary message behind the scenes – visualization of memories in the present form with the reader to feel the taste of time, human relationships, passion, ideals, friendship and betrayal as all living, unique events. In the book we meet the legends of Daile Theater Uldis Pūcītis, Artūrs Dimiters, Pēteris Pētersons, Vijs Artmanis, Eduards Smiļģis, Harijs Liepiņš Ausma Kantāns, Eduards Pāvuls, Olga Dreģis and Gunārs Placēns and many others for ourselves, if we do not lie, but confess to life in love, even when everything is not as simple as it seems from the outside.

Juris Strenga (Moriarty Sherlock in Holmes), a master of stage image texture, dispels the myth of theater as a wonderful song in his memoirs, leaving it to everyday work. Discovering doubts, routines, responsibilities, successes, frustrations, addictions, failures, moments of joy and an incredibly vital, humorous attitude towards yourself and everything that goes on behind the luxurious facade mask.

“Juris Strenga – such a fine and smart person. It’s a myth that comes from my strange look – thin, long, long hair. So intellectual. Read a lot, so smart. It doesn’t mean anything anymore. Maybe I watch movies that are intense. action and complex drama on several levels, on several lines of development. Deeper are the layers that make up a thicker, broader genre. And there must still be intrigue, that’s perfectly clear! ” tells the actor.

My accounting offers the reader the actor ‘s stories as a glorious stage, a perception of life and a sense of existence, allowing you to look behind the scenes of the theater and the invisible part of life with a smile.

The book uses more than fifty images from the Daile Theater, the Eduards Smiļģis Theater Museum and the personal archive of Juris Strengs. The graphic design of the edition was created by Artis Rutks.
