American actor Gregory Itzin, best known for his roles in the hit series 24 in The mentalist, passed away at the age of 74. Itzin is known as one of the most memorable villains of 24in which he played Charles Logan for several seasons.

His passing was announced by Jon Cassar, who is a producer at 24 was involved. “He was one of the most talented actors I’ve had the honor of working with, but above all he was a great guy,” Cassar wrote on Twitter. ‘He will be missed by his 24family, who had nothing but love and respect for him. You showed yourself beautiful, now rest in peace, friend.’

Itzin has starred in dozens of films and series since the late 1970s, but is best known to the general public as Vice President and later President Charles Logan in 24† Logan was a highly corrupt politician, who was eventually overthrown by lead actor Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). The role earned Itzin two nominations for Emmy Awards.

The actor had many small roles in well-known series over the years, including Friends, Star trek: Enterprise, Hawaii five-0, NCIS, Desperate housewives, Medium in The resident† Between 2008 and 2012 he was seen in The mentalist as Virgil Minelli, the boss of main character Teresa Lisbon.
