Georgian actor Kakha Kavsadze, who died on April 26 at the age of 86, was buried in Tbilisi at the Saburtala cemetery next to his wife Bella Mirianashvili.
Earlier, a civil funeral service was held at the Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi Theater. Thousands of people came to say goodbye to Kavsadze, among them the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as well as leaders of various parties.
Kavsadze was hospitalized in November with coronavirus but was later discharged. In February, he again went to the clinic.
In 1981, Kavsadze received the title of People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR. He has played in many films. Among them – “White Sun of the Desert”, “Melodies of the Veria Quarter”, “The Adventures of Lazare”, “Repentance”.
