Mourning Dustin Diamond: According to media reports, the US actor died at the age of 44. Diamond received a cancer diagnosis just a few weeks ago, it is said.
Born in 1977 in California, the actor became famous at the age of eleven for his role as Samuel “Screech” Powers in the sitcom “Saved By The Bell”, which ran under the title “California High School” in Germany. Diamond played the likable nerd in more than 80 episodes of the series as well as in a short-lived sequel. He later appeared on several reality TV shows, including the UK edition of Celebrity Big Brother. Diamond also worked as a musician and professional wrestler.
Grief on social media
Several California High School co-stars commemorated the deceased on social media. Mario Lopez, who played the role of Albert Clifford “AC” Slater, wrote on Instagram: “Dustin, you will be missed.” “My first screen love Dustin Diamond got his angel wings today …”.
