Dumburs reveals in a conversation with the magazine “Privatā Dzīve” that he has been abstaining from intoxicating substances for five years.
“Alcohol is also a drug in my eyes. Dozens of people could have said: “Listen, you have problems!”, but something started to change only when I started to realize that I really had problems. That I was not easing my nerves with something some substance help, but on the contrary –
I may be fine for an hour, but it causes even bigger problems the next day,” reveals the actor.
He sought help from a support group. “Addiction is a mental illness that requires a mental program to treat. Support groups offer that. (..) I’m still in recovery. Unfortunately, this illness is lifelong,” Dumbur believes.
It has already been reported that the film “Breathing Underwater” is a modern story about Raiti, a drug addict who is stuck in the wheel of addiction and cannot get out of it. Raitis has stolen a bundle of drugs and is trying to sell it, risking everything, including his fellow human beings. Balancing between conflicting ways of life, the drug addiction leads Wright deeper into dishonesty, infidelity and the unmanageability of life.
