Actor Chen Quan, who played Uncle Shun in the TVB drama “Hong Kong 81” series, has passed away recently. Uncle Quan Hui’s daughter recently informed her artist friends in Canada through text messages, saying that her father passed away in the hospital on December 28. His daughter wrote in the message: “He was admitted to Zuo Hospital about three weeks ago. After all, he was old. He left the hospital while sleeping in the afternoon. He slept peacefully. We were also in the hospital to accompany his father when he left. He has been blessed throughout his life.”
Chen Quan’s family has moved away for more than 30 years, and his daughter informed relatives and friends of her father’s death.
Not enough people to bury
Chen Quan’s most classic work is the 1975 Family Planning Association advertisement. In the film, he punted a boat and raised the V sign to indicate “two are enough for the number of photos”. The advertisement can still be seen on the Family Planning Association channel. He used to be the owner of “All Access” (a former location van), transporting artists in and out. He transformed from a foreign car driver into an artist because the TV station didn’t have enough people, so Zeng Lizhen asked him to help. He mentioned this experience in the industry in a past interview: “Sometimes TV stations cannot do it if they need people, so I can’t do it. I told Tsang Lizhen that this uncle Shun has been missing all day long? He said: “I am just looking for someone. “You.” Because the role is sailing, I can do it part-time, and I don’t want to make a living by being an artist.”
Chen Quan himself was responsible for recruiting Lin Ji, and finally went to shoot the Family Planning Association advertisements himself.

Speaking of the Family Planning Association’s advertisement, Uncle Quan mentioned in the interview that he was helping to recruit Lin Ji, but the director was not satisfied with the other party’s performance: “I waited for an hour, the sun was setting, and there was no filming. My classmate Lin Ji said: “Get up, get up, here I come.” The water there near Sha Tin Boat Boat was so smelly that if the boat sank, it would stink to death. I was so shocked and miserable. I didn’t know how to paddle a boat, I could only paddle a boat. I won’t step out of the TV mirror (camera), but I know the director will just say it.”

During the peak period, Uncle Quan hired car rental services for many TV stations and radio stations. He had more than 200 employees and 170 cars. He was rented by TVB, Ledi (the predecessor of ATV), Jiashi, Radio Television Hong Kong and the location filming teams of film companies. The car was therefore dubbed the “Broadcast Road Traffic Giant”. In 2019, the then 85-year-old Chen Quan returned to Hong Kong to visit friends. He was interviewed. When talking about the history of water pollution at that time, he said with a smile: “If my cars were parked, the entire radio channel would not be enough to park them.” .”
