Carlos Calvo, better known as Carlín, was born on February 23, 1953 in San Antonio de Padua. A Boca Juniors fan, the young actor had his first starring role on TV in the 1980s thanks to “El Rafa”.

From there, participated in dozens of successes on the small screen and on stage and was one of the protagonists of the golden age of national television. Of popular essence, his charisma and talent enshrined him as one of the “galancitos” of his time.
In April 1985 the film was released “Bye, Roberto”, the first in Argentine cinema that starred a homosexual couple made up of Carlín and Victor Laplace. At that time and for an enormously more conservative society, the film was a hinge in openly addressing a romantic story between two men.

Without a doubt, his greatest television success was “Friends are friends” novel that he co-starred with Pablo Rago from 1990 to 1993. Today it seems impossible but the novel lasted 3 years on the air for Telefé and Channel 9 and reached up to 50 points of rating.
One of the funniest anecdotes of the actor happened in 1994, the most successful time of his career, when he was invited by the Argentine producer Dany Mañas to the Golden Globes. At the ceremony and thanks to his innate seduction, Carlín managed to photograph himself with world stars such as Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Daniel Day–Lewis and Leo Di Caprio.

Calvo left some phrases in popular memory that you have surely heard: “It’s a fight” or “You, smoke“, created for his fictional characters transcended the screen and they were for a long time fillers in any conversation. For his performance in the comedy “Argentine Customs” he received the Martín Fierro Award in 2004.
But the actor not only shone on television: upstairs he starred in more than 20 theatrical seasons in Mar del Plata to a full house, with works such as “Extraña Pareja” in 1984, “Taxi” in 1985 or “Money Money” in 2003. The last time he acted on stage was in 2015 in the play “Leonas” with Carmen Barbieri and Nazarena Vélez.

He had two children, Facundo and Abril, together with Carina Gallucci from whom he separated in 2010, but who accompanied him and helped him until the last stretch of his life that in health matters, it was not easy at all.
In 1999 he had the first stroke (ACV), a complication that was repeated in 2010 and from which it would be very difficult to recover. Since then, his painting has always been very delicate.

In October 2020 he had to be hospitalized for health complications in a highly complex center in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Patricios, until He passed away on December 11 at the age of 67.
Adored by his colleagues and by the public, Carlín Calvo was one of the undisputed figures of the Argentine show. The artistic community, whenever possible, remembers it with great affection and gratitude.
