Actor Bruno Bichir Discusses Filming a Period Comedy in ‘Viaje todo robado’

Bruno Bichir is surprised that a film that deals with the early 2000s is considered period, because at that time he was barely in his thirties.

But that is exactly what is happening to him with “Viaje todo robado”, a comedy in which he stars alongside Ana Claudia Talancón and Germán Bracco, and which will reach 900 cinemas next Thursday.

In it the three make up a family that in 2004 decides to go on vacation to the US. The adolescents who participate in it did not know, for example, what a record burner was: “It is hard for me to think that it is a period film, as if it were a bygone era, but yes (laughs). It was 20 years ago, when our (hypothetical) son was in pre-school”, she comments.

Despite this, the actor is more than satisfied with this film, because despite being a comedy it is not the typical story: “Doing a comedy has always been a delight and even more so under a particular vision of the director; Comedy is always considered a small genre, but this is far from these terms, ”he adds convinced.

“Viaje todo robado”, Diego Graue’s debut feature, tells the adventure of a man who has made the wrong decisions, putting him in big trouble until he gets some money with which he decides to spend a good time with his family, but things they start to go wrong.

“It has to do with this fantasy that we all have of taking a trip on vacation, which is not so possible and reflects the difficulties that are faced to achieve it”, comments the director.

Ana Claudia Talancón (“The crime of Father Amaro” and “I’m your fan”), for her part, is the mother, who is also obsessed with bingo.

“I love drama and comedy, it’s like a delicious sweet and sour, it’s something completely different, I don’t think I have to choose between one and the other, I love them combined,” says the actress.

For Bracco (“Fall into Temptation”), responsible for playing the eldest son, the story only shows what everyone has been through.

“The character tries to open up (from his family) out of mere rebellion and, in the end, the characters have a journey inside, it’s not just a fun road trip, but complex people making difficult decisions,” he says.

Irka Castillo and Daniel Haddad complete the main cast.
