British actor Bernard Hill, best known for his roles in the Oscar-winning films Titanic and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, has died. On the death of the actor, who was 79 years old, on Sunday reports BBC citing his agent. The cause of death is not stated.
Hill’s career began in the 1970s. In 1982, he played in the popular British BBC series Boys on the Side. His roles in other BBC projects are also known; his last work was his role in the second season of the series Night Calls, the premiere of the first episode of which was scheduled just in time for May 5ththe day of the actor’s death.
The most famous in the world were his two roles in Hollywood films – captain of the Titanic Edward Smith in James Cameron’s film about the disaster of the ocean liner (1997) and King Rohan Theoden in two films of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy – The Two Towers ( 2002) and The Return of the King (2003). He also played in the film “Valkyrie” about the conspiracy against Adolf Hitler.
