Hill was born on December 17, 1944 in Manchester, England. He made his debut on British television in 1973 in Mike Leigh’s first film, “Hard Labor”. Hill has appeared in films, on stage and on television. He had a role in “Gandhi”, appeared in the films “Mutiny on the Bounty”, “No Surrender”, “Blessed Art Thou”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Going Off Big Time” and “The Criminal”. He also appeared in the series “I, Claudius”, the trilogy “Henry VI” and “Richard III”.
Hill is the only actor to appear in more than one film to win 11 Oscars (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “Titanic”).
