On the day his death was announced, colleagues and admirers expressed their sincere condolences, along with shock at the unexpected news.
Now, his publicist clarified that the artist died due to lung cancer that had been diagnosed a few months before he lost his life.

In addition to his roles in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street, his legacy on television also leaves for posterity his role as Owen Thoreau Jr. in the series Men of a Certain Age (2009) alongside Ray Romano and Scott Bakula, which earned him two Emmy nominations.
During this period, he won two Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and received four other Emmy nominations.
