Actor and theater maker Sam Bogaerts (“Witse”, “Professor T.”) passed away

Later, Bogaerts was in-house director at Nederlands Toneel Gent (NT Gent), where he started with “Salon”, a stage for young talent, where the De Roovers company, among others, made its first appearance. He was also artistic director at Theater Malpertuis for several years.

Bogaerts also taught at several theater schools in Flanders and the Netherlands. From 2005 to 2013, he headed the Drama course at the KASK in Ghent, a course that he thoroughly renovated. After his retirement there, he became a guest professor at the acting school in Antwerp.

Bogaerts remained active as a theater maker, teacher and actor. He also played in the performance “Someone of us” by the theater company Tristero, which only premiered at the beginning of this month. He is also known for several television roles, including in the series “Witse”, “Professor T” and “Ghent West” and in the films “Steve & Sky” and “Ellektra”.

Bogaerts passed away on Saturday morning, he was 73 years old.
