Actor and singer Milan Peroutka made a big decision in the summer. Not only did he publicly admit that he had an affair with a man, but he also married his partner Dominik Roubínek. He admitted to Story magazine how he perceives both of these steps with distance and what he wishes for next year.
Are you glad you made both of these decisions in retrospect?
I am! I am especially happy that I completely stand behind them. It is a wonderful feeling to have such certainty in life. I thought I didn’t need it, but I find it extremely pleasant. And when I see different relationships around me, I value her all the more and wish her for everyone.
Have you never once regretted your choices?
No. I generally try to avoid regrets. I prefer to approach life that everything is as it should be. Plus, I was just being true to who I really am, so I can take people’s lingering sympathy a little more personally.

How do you assess “your” year 2023 overall?
It was intense, and that’s how it should be. We should live life in the present and act, no other time is true.
You are currently enjoying success in the musical Biograf láska, where you play a flirtatious bartender who does not believe in love. Are you playing well?
Great. I enjoy it because of how he entertains the audience. They are always the main engine for me. In the role of Přemko, I work in a cafe where three friends who are dealing with relationships meet, and there will definitely be female viewers there. And if not in them, they will enjoy my glossing, even if I end up falling in love too.

Do you have a favorite passage?
To be honest, I don’t get too excited in this musical, I rather look with admiration at my colleagues from the portal. I definitely enjoy Gwendolyn with the dancers, it works great.
And is there something you and Přemek have in common?
I guess I also enjoy making light of things and keeping a certain perspective on them. I think that’s the key to a happy life, doubly so in our industry.

Considering your wedding this year, I assume you believe in lifelong love. Or am i wrong?
Of course I believe! I believe in love as such. I’m not a cynic and I think that’s the strongest human power. We have to nurture and pamper it, it shows the nicer face of a person.
You and your husband entered into a registered partnership. Have you discussed together whether or not to wait until same-sex couples can marry directly?
Even though it was written, they didn’t solve it. For us it was a wedding, i.e. a beautiful life event when we got together with extended family and friends and celebrated. I don’t care what the law calls it now, and I don’t think it will make a difference in the future either. I will only discover the intricacies of it when starting a family.

For Christmas this year, you sang a duet with your long-time friend Anička Slováčková. Whose idea was that?
Anička called me. I immediately said I wanted to. And at that time, the song didn’t even exist yet, and I didn’t know how beautifully it would turn out in the end.
How did you react when you learned that Anička was fighting the disease again?
Of course, I felt sorry and we assured Anička that we are here for her. I was full of it, but now we often don’t even talk about it, we prefer to laugh together.

What would you like the next year to look like?
I would like to draw more attention to my music in it. I think that I have tried enough theater performances lately, now I would like to change the stage more and create new music. But be careful, I also want to focus on my private life, home and travel.
