Actor Alec Baldwin charged with manslaughter for ‘Rust’ shooting

Actor Alec Baldwin was charged, on Friday, for the second time in the US state of New Mexico with manslaughter for firing a shot that killed director of photography, Halina Hutchins, on the set of the American western film “Rust.”

The accusation comes months after the prosecution dropped previous charges against the actor.

Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, issued a statement on Friday on behalf of their client, saying, “We look forward to our day in court.”

Friday’s accusation comes after an independent forensic examination concluded that Baldwin had to pull the trigger of a gun he had used while preparing for one of the scenes in order for the live bullet that killed Hutchins to be fired. This is the same conclusion as a previous FBI examination of the weapon.

Baldwin denies pulling the trigger and has said he was not responsible for Hutchins’ death.

In recent years, Baldwin (63 years old) has achieved wide fame in the United States thanks to his skillful imitation of former President Donald Trump on the famous satirical program “Saturday Night Live.”
