UPDATEActor Alec Baldwin (63) fired a fatal shot with a firearm on a film set in the American state of New Mexico on Thursday. A 42-year-old woman, the film’s director of the film, Halyna Hutchins, has been killed, the Santa Fe police chief said. Director Joel Souza, 48, was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. He is in intensive care, but his life is not in danger.

The incident happened during shooting for the film Rust, a western for which the 63-year-old Baldwin works as an actor as well as a co-producer. Hutchins was taken to hospital by helicopter, but died of her injuries a few hours later.
