Actor Aart Staartjes was seriously injured in Leeuwarden in a traffic accident, reports Omrop Fryslân. The Friesland police report that an accident has occurred between a moped car and a car.
The 81-year-old actor was thrown out of his moped car during the collision. He was rushed to the hospital. It is not clear how serious his injuries are.
Staartjes is primarily known as Mr. Aart from Sesame Street. He also devised other children’s programs such as The Stratemaker sea show and The Film of Uncle Willem. He is also a director, presenter, documentary maker and writer.
Staartjes has been living in the Frisian village of Dronryp for some years, between Leeuwarden and Franeker.
