Despite the complicated situation due to the health emergency, the scene wants, needs, to vindicate itself in these times of Covid-19 and what better date than World Theater Day. Thus, from the Association of Actresses and Actors of Cádiz They have organized a series of activities both online and in person to celebrate the anniversary.
Thus, with the collaboration of the Municipal Foundation of Culture, the entity has prepared a program that includes theatrical workshops, reading of the manifesto, meetings with professionals in the sector and a performance, all on the occasion of a date that is celebrated next March 27.
“We are fully aware that in the context of the current pandemic we must respect the sanitary measures and changing restrictions that are currently in force. This is what we did on World Theater Day 2020, suspending the proposal, already approved, because of the necessary confinement. For this reason, we have designed a program that contains face-to-face and online actions and that contemplates the possibility of being together, separated or postponing some of the proposals for more propitious times, “they explain from the association.
Face-to-face activities
“With all the sanitary guarantees”, they assure, the Association of Actresses and Actors have planned to carry out some face-to-face activities on the occasion of World Theater Day. One of them is the performance Inside doors, coordinated by Iosune Onraita and to be held on March 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Baluarte de la Candelaria, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
It is a street action that proposes to expose the secluded life. A review of people’s chores during confinement and an introspective look at the essentials of intimacy (pleasures, pains, sufferings …) through bodily expression and with minimal use of text. A) Yes, it is a show with a circular format which provides an integral vision of a proposal that has both interpreters from the association and people from Cádiz sensitive to the performing arts who have been invited to participate as actresses and actors in the montage.
Another face-to-face activity will be the theater workshops, coordinated by Zoraida Casas and given by the actors Virginia Melgar and Javier Vicario, whose benefits will go entirely to increasing the capital of the association “with the idea of continuing to offer projects to the city and its associates,” they explain.
Thus, the first of them, which will be held on March 23 at ECCO from 4.30 to 7.00 p.m. and at a price of 10 euros, will be The body first witness of the word, taught by Vicario and focused on professionals in the educational and social fields such as teachers, educators or pedagogues, among others. And the second, The joy of being a clown, by Virginia Melgar and intended for both professionals like amateursIt will take place on March 24, 25 and 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on March 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. also at the ECCO and at the price of 30 euros.
Online activities
The proposals that are part of this modality are all held on March 27. One of them is The theater finds you, coordinated by Manuela Sánchez. Is about 30-minute meetings with professionals of dramaturgy and stage direction, thus the appointments with Marta Pazos, Carolina Africa and Alfonso Zurro have already been confirmed.
It will also be virtual reading of the International Manifesto for World Theater Day 2021, an activity coordinated in Cádiz by Iosune Onraita who has designed that the associates read the official message interpreting a character written or created, classic or contemporary. With these interpretations, a montage will be made that will be shared by the association’s social networks to disseminate a text that, they consider, “is always revealing of the importance of theater.”
