Mexico City. Activists in favor of animal life held a demonstration in front of the Senate to protest against the sacrifice of a chicken as part of an offering to Tlaloc and for the day of rain, which took place last Wednesday in the building of this chamber at the request of the Morenoist Adolfo Gómez Hernández.
On posters and in slogans, they accused that the Senate had become a slaughterhouse instead of a place to legislate, and they demanded the dismissal of Gómez, who was asked to show his face before society.
The members of social organizations defending animal life took the opportunity to demand to know what the senators have done with the minutes to prohibit dolphinariums, the sale of wild animals and to guarantee their well-being, which have not been ruled on although they were approved in the Chamber of Deputies in 2022.
The protesters blocked Reforma Avenue for several minutes. As part of their demands, they asked that the senators receive a commission. Two of its members entered the building and engaged in dialogue with several senators separately.
