A large crowd was seen in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, on Tuesday night (August 13) when another protest was organized by opponents against the policies of the government or its members.
This time around 18,000 protesters took to the streets, demanding the resignation of Culture Minister Martina Šimkovićova.
The minister played a role in the reorganization of the public media which was widely criticized. But this time she is criticized for dismissing the heads of several cultural institutions, including the directors of the National Theater and the National Gallery.
The minister is accused of an authoritarian management style, as well as “purges” carried out to suppress artistic freedom.
