Activist Deddy Baadilla Questions Kaesang Pangarep’s Ability to Lead Depok City Due to His Age

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Batch 66 activist Deddy Baadilla assessed Kaesang Pangarep was not quite right to lead Depok City because he was still young. According to him, regional leaders must be mature in analyzing and making policies.

“As far as I know, the state official is at least 40 years old. How old is Kaesang, why should he be forced,” said Deddy after inaugurating the Anies Baswedan Winning Post and ABW Volunteers on Jalan Kemang 1 RT. 04 RW. 010 No. 9 Sukmajaya District, Sunday, 11 June 2023.

He revealed that in the past President Suharto was overthrown for reasons of nepotism, but now it’s a mess.

“We are Ampera Warriors, now we are unpopular, Mandate for the People’s Suffering, we used to fight for it, when we fought for Ampera, we were led by a child who was not yet 40,” he explained.

Deddy said, a good leader must care about the people. At least he understands how to manage a country or region.

Secretary General of Ampera assessed Depok will serve as a stepping stone for Kaesang. After Depok, Kaesang will go to DKI Jakarta and at the mouth of RI 1.

Until now, there have been four political parties that have stated that they are ready to support Kaesang running in the Depok Pilkada. Apart from PSI and PDIP, the Gerindra Party and the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo) also
will support the child President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi in the 2024 Depok Mayoral Election.

Perindo’s statement of support for Kaesang was conveyed directly by Perindo Party Chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo. “That’s why we support Perindo to get more seats in Depok. If we get 20 percent of the seats, we’ll stretch it to Kaesang,” said Hary Tanoe as quoted by Tempo, Monday, June 12, 2023.

Prior to Perindo, PSI had also expressed support for Jokowi’s youngest son as a candidate for Mayor of Depok. This was revealed by the Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bapilu) DPD PSI Depok City, Icuk Pramana Putra.

Icuk said that the DPD PSI’s support for Kaesang as a candidate for mayor has been carried out intensively since the end of March 2023. “During the last two months our cadres have submitted this proposal to the people of Depok,” Icuk said, as quoted by Tempo.
