Activision has a new game on Tuesday call of Dutyfranchise released: Warzone. The game focuses on the popular genre battle royale, where a large group of players compete against each other until the last one remains.
It is not the first time that battle royale becomes available in call of Duty. The mode was already available in Black Ops 4, which went on sale in 2018. Call of Duty: Warzone on the other hand, is free to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PCs.
In War zone one hundred and fifty players compete against each other in teams of three in the fictional city of Verdansk. Players end up on the playground, must collect weapons and equipment while being chased by other players.
Gamers that are shot are not necessarily completely eliminated. That way teammates can get players back into the game. Two shot-down players from different teams can also compete one to one against each other to earn their return to the playing field.
Battle royale gained popularity through the game Fortnite. The popularity of the genre has led to other titles such as Apex Legends from EA and a battle-royal mode Minecraft.
