Activision Blizzard makes more money from mobile games than its PC and console releases

There is no doubt that the market for iOS and Android mobile games is getting bigger, a fact that is refuted by figures such as the one that Activision Blizzard has recorded in one of its latest financial documents: during the second quarter of 2022, the company has made more money in mobile than PC and console gaming combined. In fact, more than half of their revenue during that period came from that market.

If we look at concrete figures, the results are more impressive: from April to June of this year they have entered 831 million dollars only thanks to mobile games. Console games have brought in $376 million for the company, while PC games have generated $332 million; Between both segments, a little more than 708 million dollars have been generated, a figure quite far from what Activision Blizzard has entered only for mobile games.

Moreover, if we add the fourth segment of income, that of esports and other events, we see that even so it exceeds everything that has entered mobile: this portion adds 105 million dollars more to the total revenue of Activision Blizzard in the second quarter of 2022, which does not serve to reach the impressive 831 million dollars from the mobile market. Namely, this sector is not only the one that has generated the most but also alone has generated more than all the other sectors.

Although these are surprising figures, in reality it does not catch us by surprise considering the recent data of mobile games such as Diablo Immortalspecifically this project has generated 49 million dollars in its first month, it also has other popular games in its catalog such as Call of Duty Mobile o Candy Crush Sagaand it seems that they will continue betting on these platforms despite the recent cancellation of a Blizzard project that had been in production for years.
