After two weeks in decline, the Laval balance sheet shows a slight increase in active cases according to data released by the Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) of Laval.
Indeed, there are now 342 active confirmed cases in the territory, or 6 more than last Monday.
In total, 37,993 Laval residents (+259) have contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic. Of these, 939 (+2) are sadly deceased, while 36,712 (+251) have now recovered.
This slight increase is also observed among hospitalizations caused by COVID-19. 15 Laval residents (+3) are still hospitalized in a health establishment, including 10 (+0) in intensive care.
The CISSS de Laval also specified that 20 employees of its network (-2) are absent from work due to the virus.
Vaccination
As of Friday, November 19, 91.3% of Laval residents aged 12 and over (+ 0.02%) had received a dose of the vaccine. 88.7% (+ 0.03%) were adequately vaccinated. For Quebec as a whole, these two data points to 91% (+ 0.02%)% and 88.6% (+ 0.02%).
In absolute numbers, Île Jésus has 667,665 doses administered since the start of the operation.
This is the ninth highest provincial total behind Montreal (3,439,666), the Montérégie (2,142,539), the Capitale-Nationale (1,234,577), the Laurentians (948,130), the Mauricie and Center-du- Quebec (815 474), Lanaudière (767 418), Estrie (765 015) and Chaudière-Appalaches (682 359).
In the sectors
Three of Laval’s six sectors have shown a drop in active cases over the past week.
Chomedey (-12) is the one who showed the greatest decrease, just ahead of the sector of Duvernay, Saint-François and Saint-Vincent-de-Paul (-9). They were followed by the Vimont and Auteuil sector (-1) which has remained fairly stable for seven days.
For its part, the sector of Pont-Viau, Renaud-Coursol and Laval-des-Rapides (+7) remains the Laval sector that is doing the best, whether in absolute numbers (32 active cases) or in terms of infection (40 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Conversely, the Fabreville-Est and Sainte-Rose sector (+4) is the most affected on Île Jésus in these two categories with 79 people carrying the virus and an infection rate of 104 active cases per 100. 00 inhabitants.
The sector of Sainte-Dorothée, Laval-Ouest, Laval-Les Îles, Fabreville-Ouest and Laval-sur-le-Lac (+17) is the territory with the largest increase observed in the last week.

Note that as indicated on the CISSS de Laval website, these data by sector include all cases of citizens who test positive for COVID-19, whether they reside in closed environments or elsewhere in the community.
Closed environments include living environments such as residential and long-term care centers (CHSLD), private seniors’ residences (RPA), intermediate resources (RI), as well as correctional centers.
The data presented are calculated according to the place of residence. The CISSS is slow to determine the focus of 19 cases so far.
