The Braga Restaurant Union released today a kind of vindictive notebook which he will send to the Government and the City Council of Braga (CMB), in which he begins by asking the Municipality to create a fund so that the restaurants “are endowed with a reinforcement of the non-refundable treasury, similar to Lisbon, which undoubtedly demonstrated , the appreciation of the activity and its importance for the city. Support should be proportionate and staggered ”.
They also want mechanisms to be agreed between the Chamber and the TUBs (Urban Transport) and private car parks, defining a maximum value of one euro paid by customers at meal times until the end of 2022.
“CMB and URBAC, together, will prepare a community project to support the recovery, involving gastronomy and culture, through the creation of initiatives between the two areas. In addition, the articulation of specific post-show times, for all who wish to join. (Ex: Association to the Quadrilátero card) ”, defends in a note signed by Tiago Carvalho, its spokesman.
CMB, together with URBAC and the University of Minho, – he adds – “should speed up the elaboration of a study that demonstrates the real value of our activity in the municipality of Braga. This study should take into account the direct and indirect jobs, the global billing of the restaurants and the billing of all the players in the supply chain, as well as the service providers ”.
It must also be studied – they point out – the real impact created on the local economy, all the business generated around this sector, since its creation, such as construction, architecture, marketing, communication agencies, among others. It is intended, therefore, to have a radiograph of what we feel we are as entrepreneurs in contributing to the growth, development and image of our city.
Attracting tourists
URBAC also intends to promote, together with Turismo de Portugal, campaigns to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
To this end – he suggests – a brand would be created, where Braga is the reference of Portuguese gastronomy, more specifically, in the great richness of Minho cuisine.
The restoration also calls for the “creation of a monitoring and support office, between the City Council and URBAC, to defend the restoration, also asking the parish councils for their cooperation due to the proximity to many businesses and their real needs. . INVESTBRAGA, could be the vehicle for articulation between all these entities ”.
The third point of the “package” is the 50% reduction in garbage and consumption tariffs on Agere’s invoice over the next two years, a measure identical to the support already requested from EDP.
He also wishes that a working group for 2021 and 2022 be created urgently, “aiming at turning Braga into an example of the use of public space, from the creation of new terraces, to its coverage, creating limits on the circulation hours and speed of vehicles on some city streets, returning streets and squares to people, thus demonstrating the city’s commitment to caring for people and the environment ”.
By the end of the first quarter of 2021, – he proposes – the work prepared by the group created, where civil protection and the CMB would also be ready to be executed.
