- Brazil and Argentina started off on the right foot in groups A and B.
- Colombia and Venezuela also sang victory in their respective keys.
This Saturday the 29th, the CONMEBOL Copa América Futsal kicked off, with four exciting matches that were played at the Arena SND in Asunción – Paraguay.
The contest brings together the 10 South American teams in the Paraguayan capital, until February 6.
Peru 2-3 Venezuela (Group B)
The Venezuelan team beat Peru 3-2 in the first match of the championship.
The Vinotinto team struck first with Wilson Francia’s goal (8′), however, the Bicolor managed to recover and equalize the actions with Ángel Angulo’s goal (24′).
The joy was short-lived, since at 30′ Andrés Terán made it 2-1 in favor of Venezuela, who extended the score at 34′ through Carlos Sanz.
Finally, Jordi Rivera narrowed the gap (37′) for the Peruvians, who will have to recover from Group B.
Chile 1-3 Colombia (Group A)
The Colombian team had an auspicious debut after beating Chile 3-1, for group A.
The ‘coffee growers’ had to row from behind to get the three points, since La Roja took the lead through Cristian Arredondo’s conversion at 23′.
Calmly and after adjusting their offensive tandem, Colombia managed to turn the score around through a brace by Bryan Zapata at 29′ and 32′, which he managed to extend through a celebration by Yulian Díaz at 38′.
Argentina 2-1 Bolivia (Group B)
In a meeting with gritted teeth, the Argentine team won 2-1 against Bolivia.
Argentina quickly took the lead with Pablo Taborda’s goal (1′), the main protagonist of the match.
The set was even and La Verde quickly found equality after a deflection by Ángel Claudino, who ended up scoring an own goal (3′), however, in the second half Taborda inflated the net again (27′) to decree the victory.
Brazil 5-1 Ecuador (Group A)
Brazil, the reigning champions, began their title defense with a 5-1 thrashing of Ecuador.
The most winning team in the history of the competition did not forgive the Tricolor, for group A.
Even Ecuador could have started with an advantage, but goalkeeper Rancaglio contained the penalty executed by Nazareno.
From there, Canarinha was the absolute owner of the game and with goals from Marcenio; Rafael Dos Santos; Bruno Ramos and Matheus Rodríguez kept the first three points.
Ecuador decorated the final score with a goal from Bryan Montaño.
