Action Ukraine – Emergency aid for victim populations – Opening of FACECO (Paris, 03.01.22)

Extract from the press point of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of March 1, 2022

As announced by Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) has activated the external action fund of local authorities (FACECO) in order to federate the initiatives and the momentum of exceptional solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the territories.

This mechanism allows all local authorities who so wish, whatever their size, to make their financial contributions. Pooled within a fund managed by specialized teams from the Crisis and Support Center (CDCS) of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, these contributions will make it possible to finance emergency humanitarian operations responding to the priority needs of the victims of the conflict.

For local authorities wishing to contribute financially to FACECO, instructions are available on the France diplomatie website and below.

Another mechanism will also be activated to receive contributions from companies wishing to get involved.

Faced with the tragic consequences of the Russian invasion, the humanitarian needs in Ukraine and in neighboring countries are very great and will be long-term.

France will remain mobilized alongside the Ukrainian people.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will very soon be organizing an information and coordination meeting with local authorities.
