Action star Vin Diesel shares first pictures of “Riddick 4”

Vin Diesel is currently in Europe filming the sci-fi blockbuster “Riddick: Furya”. He has now shared his first impressions on Instagram.

For the past 11 years, action star Vin Diesel has seemingly only stepped on the accelerator and made one “Fast & Furious” film after another. A total of four sequels to the successful PS film series have been released since then. He also lent his voice to his character Dominic Toretto in the animated series “Fast & Furious Spy Racers”. All other films with which the 57-year-old has tried to reach an audience in person have more or less failed at the box office. The only exception was “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”, in which Diesel can be seen in one of his three cult roles.

The Hollywood star has obviously cultivated a certain reputation, which means that his many fans basically only want to see him in three roles: as family man Dom Toretto, stuntman Xander Cage, and as Richard B. Riddick. The latter is the most dangerous and deadly criminal in the entire universe. Many have tried to catch him and have had to pay for this cardinal mistake with their lives. Most recently, the supposedly last Furyan fought against bounty hunters and creatures known only as Mud Demons on an inhospitable planet in “Riddick: Vengeance for Survival”. Of course, the coolest guy in the universe made it off the planet alive. But where is he headed now? To Furya, of course! In the sci-fi action film “Riddick: Furya”.

“Pitch Black”, the first part of the “Riddick” series, is currently available at a reasonable price on Blu-ray via Amazon

After a long time of planning and often paused, director and screenwriter David Twohy, who has directed every single “Riddick” film to date, and lead actor and producer Vin Diesel have finally managed to come up with a plot that they believe does justice to the cult figure. Diesel, Twohy and their team have been in Europe for a few weeks now, filming in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Diesel, who is an internet-savvy personality with a large fan base, has been busy sharing pictures and clips from his new adventure on the “old continent” ever since. For example, he has a cool surprise at a German airport. There he met his colleague Marcel, who has a quote from Diesel’s friend Paul Walker, who died in 2013, tattooed on his arm:

“You never know what you’ll find when you walk through an international airport in Germany. Marcel, a very cool ramp agent, has a message on his arm.”

We have some really interesting and crazy facts from Diesel’s “Fast & Furious” series for you in the video:

“Riddick: Furya”: Is Vin Diesel playing Mad Max?

Vin Diesel puts his heart and soul into his productions. He recently showed this with his enthusiasm about the sheer size of the production hall, probably in Germany, in which parts of “Riddick: Furya” are/were being shot:

“As I marveled at the sheer size of those ‘Riddick’ stages, I thought about the first short film I directed over 30 years ago… for $3,000, my life’s savings. I was a city kid with big dreams.”

Similar to the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian,” the team behind “Riddick: Furya” works in front of a video wall with StageCraft technology. This makes it possible to convey the impression of vastness relatively cheaply and with an almost perfect illusion, without having to divert too much budget to extensive sets. In addition, the transition between such scenes and actual outdoor shots is seamless. The audience remains immersed. Vin Diesel himself is also immersed, as you can see:

“Such a creative and productive summer. So much to share… Thank you for all your inspiration.”

Above all, the sight of Riddick in a buggy in the middle of a desert landscape in the style of “Mad Max” suggests that Furya is a no less inhospitable planet. According to the first details, the wanted criminal and anti-hero returns to his home planet and is astonished to discover that there is still life there. So what has happened in all the time since he left Furya?

The answer could still be End of 2025 if everything goes according to plan. However, “Riddick: Furya” does not yet have a cinema release date.
