Action day on Sunday makes you want to see Hesse’s literature and music online and offline

Wiesbaden. The coming Sunday offers a festival for everyone who likes to read and lose themselves in the world of music: Then the “Day for Literature and Music” will present the cultural scene of the literature and music region of Hesse as a Hesse-wide event online and offline. More than 200 cultural associations, museums, artists and private initiatives have put together a diverse program – from the online consultation of a recorder doctor to video readings and lyrical-musical strolls in the fresh air and at a distance. The day of action is organized by the radio station h2 Kultur. The Hessian Ministry of Science and Art supports 89 events with a total of around 40,000 euros and covers the costs of brochure printing.

Exciting formats have emerged

“It is a happy coincidence that the ‘Day for Literature and Music’ falls precisely at the time when the first openings are possible. This makes the organizers very happy, but it also requires a great deal of flexibility – I thank you very much for this great commitment ”, so Minister of Art and Culture Angela Dorn. “Despite the many restrictions in recent months, culture did not stand still: the musicians continued to compose and rehearse, the writers researched and wrote, many cultural workers were bubbling over with ideas – albeit often in secret. With the action day we want to make the literary state of Hesse and the state of music Hesse visible. Exciting formats have emerged, many of which are independent of location and sometimes time. With all the digital zeal, however, I am particularly pleased that the falling incidence on this Sunday means that personal encounters that make culture so unique will be possible under the known rules and with great caution. I wish everyone a wonderful day and great experiences in the literature and music state of Hesse. “

Action days have been merged

What is new is that this year the days for literature and music – otherwise two separate campaigns – have been merged. For example, adult education centers, universities, cities, municipalities, clubs or schools can offer events – everyone who feels connected to literature and music from and about Hesse. The Hesse-wide “Day for Literature” is organized by the “Literaturland Hessen”, a joint project of hr2-kultur, the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art and the Hessian Literature Council. It has taken place every two years on a Sunday in May since 2007. “A day for music” was first held in 2018 and should then take place every two years – last year it had to be canceled due to corona.
