Doha: The number of people violating Kovid regulations is increasing in Qatar. Yesterday, Kovid took action against 379 people for violating the regulations. A total of 365 people were arrested for not wearing masks. Fourteen people were arrested for carrying more than the permitted number of people in the vehicle. So far, 10,649 people in the country have been handed over to the public prosecution for not wearing masks.
Covid violations are prosecuted under Order No. 17 of 1990 for the prevention of infectious diseases. Currently, fines of 500 riyals and above are imposed in many places. But this is an offense under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act, which carries a fine of up to two lakh riyals. The Home Ministry has said it will take stern action against those violating the Kovid protocol in the country. Authorities are taking strict measures to curb the spread of Kovid in the country. Inspections have also been intensified to ensure that the public complies with these.
