The Catholic University Foundation, maximum organism of the Santo Domingo Catholic University and Monsignor Francisco Ozoria Acosta, President and Grand Chancellor, announced and presented as new rector Monsignor Ramón Benito Ángeles Fernández, in succession of Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, appointed by Pope Francisco , Bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady of Altagracia-Higuey.
The event was held at noon yesterday at the Octavio Antonio Cardenal Beras Rojas Library of the same UCSD, in the presence of the academic authorities.
The opening remarks were given by Monsignor Castro Marte, outgoing rector, who announced his formal appointment by Pope Francisco, as bishop in Higuey.
Then Monsignor Ozoria Acosta, Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo, introduced the new UCSD rector, highlighting the importance for him of the formation, mission and growth of this high house of studies.
Faustino Burgos, auxiliary bishop of Santo Domingo, was in charge of invoking the Most High.
