Il ACSI National Over 50 Football Championshipwhich took place on 5 and 6 October 2024 in Cattolica, offered an exciting show, thanks to a technical level and to one physical preparation of participants who exceeded expectations. Although the competition was intense, the event was dedicated to fundell’friendship and of correctnessfundamental values for a tournament dedicated to veteran football fans.
A particularly significant aspect of this year’s edition was the participation of eight teamscoming from as many Italian regions, who qualified for the final. This figure represents important growth for the tournament, making it increasingly inclusive and varied, with high-level teams ready to compete on the pitch.
The competition saw the triumph of National Old Glorie Italy (Rome), which took first place by beating in a breathtaking finalAsd Gabicce and Gradara. The match, which ended with the result of 4-3 in regulation timewas fought until the last minutes, giving the spectators moments of great intensity and emotion.
The second place, Asd Gabicce e Gradara, however demonstrated excellent preparation, leaving the pitch with their heads held high.
The final ranking saw third place awarded toAtalanta Club to Pisafollowed by Foggia Over 50who placed fourth.
Closing the ranking of the top eight teams we find the Piedmont representative in fifth place, the Venezia F.C. Over 50 sixth, i Udine Football Veterans sevenths and finally the Sant’Agnello Football in eighth place.
Significant individual awards were also awarded during the tournament. Alain Fragassoof the Veterani Calcio Udine, was awarded as top scorer of the tournament. The prize of best goalkeeper was shared between two players: one ofAtalanta Club to Pisa and one of the Piedmont representative.
A special thanks was addressed by the organizers to Head of the Veterans Football SectorGiuseppe Carotenuto, for his commitment to managing the tournament. Special recognition also went to National Manager Carlo Carnevale and al National President Antonino Viti, for theirs support and for the sumptuous award ceremony reserved for all the finalist teams, who contributed to making the event even more prestigious and memorable.
The success of this edition of the ACSI National Over 50 Football Championship has demonstrated how sport can unite people of all ages, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle even in old age, and consolidating the spirit of camaraderie e mutual respect among the participants.
