Madrid, Feb 21 (.).- The ACS group (BME:), through its North American subsidiary Turner, has been awarded the construction of a building for the California State University, Chico, for close to 92 million euros ( 98 million dollars).

The building will house the new headquarters of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences, as indicated by the company.

It will also be highly sustainable, becoming the first net-zero energy building on campus and the third in the California State University (CSU) system.

The building will feature 94,000 square feet (8,700 m2), solar panels, an efficient water system, a design to maximize daylight, LED lighting, a cold beam cooling system, and an interior garden.

It will house nine academic departments and have 22 classrooms, five laboratories and a conference room, as well as faculty offices, conference space, meeting rooms and study spaces.

The building, designed by AC Martin, will open to students in the fall of 2024.

Founded in 1887, California State University, Chico, also called Chico State, is a public university located in the Californian city of Chico, the most populous city in Butte County.

It is also the second oldest campus in the California State University system.
