tvThe team of six sailors in ‘Across the Ocean’ is complete. Presenter Kat Kerkhofs (35) and virologist Steven Van Gucht (47) join the group, writes ‘Het Nieuwsblad’.
It was previously known that former Miss Belgium Celine Van Ouytsel (27), Jeroom Snelders (46), Riadh Bahri (35) and Clara Cleymans (34) would cross the Atlantic Ocean on the sailing ship Polygala. Together with captain Piet, Kat Kerkhofs and Steven Van Gucht will also join.
Kat Kerkhofs recently spent time in Lanzarote, coincidentally also the departure point of ‘Across the Ocean’. Her attentive followers could already guess that she would also be on board. She posted some photos of her husband Dries Mertens but also their son Ciro. She described it as a “perfect little holiday with her boys”, but apparently there was more to it.

In addition, virologist Steven Van Gucht will also join the group of BVs. He became known in Flanders due to the corona crisis. Although he seemed to understand the coronavirus, the ocean is unknown territory for him. And Captain Piet is also present again this year. The experienced sailor helped the candidates in an official sailing competition last year, but it is not clear whether this will also be the case this year.
‘Across the Ocean’ will be shown on Play4 from next year.
