Across the NHL: Sidney Crosby has been removed from COVID-19 list

The Pittsburgh Penguins removed Sidney Crosby from the NHL’s COVID-19 absence list and recalled forwards Anthony Angello and Josh Currie from the reserve team on Thursday.

Assistant coach Todd Reirden was also given the green light to resume his duties after successfully passing the NHL protocol related to COVID-19.

Crosby will be able to face the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night.

Brian Dumoulin and Evan Rodrigues both skated with their teammates, but they will not be in tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Goalkeeper Tristan Jarry will defend the Penguins’ fort.

Hampus Lindholm lost for six weeks

The Anaheim Ducks have lost the services of full-back Hampus Lindholm who suffered a broken left wrist that will keep him sidelined for about six weeks.

The fracture occurred on February 27.

Lindholm, 27, has two goals and four assists in 18 games this season. He had missed three games with a lower body injury before returning to the game last Saturday against Vegas.

Two contracts with the Rangers

The New York Rangers have contracted defensemen Braden Schneider and Mason Geertsen.

Schneider will start his junior season with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL on March 12. He was named captain of this team on February 18.

He was a Rangers first-round pick, 19th overall, in 2020.

Geertsen, 25, is also at Hartford where he played four games. He collected a pass.

A player on waivers

Defenseman Brendan Guhle was placed on waivers by the Anaheim Ducks.

Guhle has yet to play a game this season.

The former Buffalo Sabers’ second-round pick in 2015 has played a total of 59 career games. He was the author of four goals and ten assists.
