At the age of 30, Oktay moved from the Main to the Bosphorus in Istanbul. There he opened a textile business, producing, among other things, Eintracht merch. Together with his wife and son, they are the three members of Eintracht Frankfurt from Istanbul. Oktay is of the opinion: “You change a lot of things in life, but you don’t change clubs.” So his son grows up to be a “real Frankfurter” and is excited about being fully dressed in Eintracht merch. Oktay is already looking forward to the day when his son is big enough to visit the stadium for the first time at an Eintracht Frankfurt game.
Oktay is present at almost every away game in the Champions League and Europa League. To do this, he travels with his friends one or two days before the game. They then explore the city together, eat out and try regional specialties. If Oktay has not been to the country or city before, the trip starts earlier. Then he takes his wife and son with him and they enjoy the days off, which he rounds off with a visit to the stadium. Oktay also supports Eintracht Frankfurt at the Waldstadion from time to time when he visits his family in Germany.
Seville will not be forgotten
His Eintracht moment is the 2022 European Cup victory in Seville. After the last penalty in the Europa League final, he and his friends were in each other’s arms full of joy. When he returned to Istanbul, he had a flag made and hung it between the houses. So the whole city could see the pride of the Eintracht fan. Many German emigrants live in the popular district and numerous tourists came to admire the Eintracht flag. It was emblazoned over the street in Turkey for four whole months and attracted everyone’s attention.
