ACM wants online stores to inform their customers more clearly about delivery times | NOW

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) wants web shops to provide their customers with clear and up-to-date information about their delivery times. Due to the holiday season, much more crowds are expected in addition to the existing ‘corona printing’, which can cause consumers to be disappointed if products are delivered late.

In recent months, ACM has already received many reports from consumers about online purchases that were not delivered or delivered too late.

“We see that online shopping has become even more popular due to corona. We also see that online stores are busy,” says Edwin van Houten, ACM’s Consumer Director. “In view of the extra crowds around the holidays, we are therefore calling on web shops: communicate the actual delivery times to your customers and be available.”

The shops about which consumers have complained have now been addressed by ACM about their actions. These companies were unclear about the expected delivery times, did not pay back their customers on time after a return or had poorly accessible customer service.

The market watchdog says that a number of these online stores have taken action. For example, some companies have expanded customer service.
