Jürgen Klopp says that it makes a difference that the last semi-final will be played at the Emirates Stadium instead of Anfield. Initially, Liverpool should have a home game against Arsenal in the last and decisive match, but when the away game was postponed last week, it is now Arsenal who will play at home last.
– Of course it makes a difference. If you win both matches, it has nothing to say, but considering what push and lift Anfield can give, it will be a difference, Klopp said at Wednesday’s press conference.
– But we can not change it. We could not play last Thursday. That is the way it is, and we have no problem accepting that the situation has become like this, Klopp said.
Dangerous crew
When it comes to who has the advantage of being the best on the pitch, recent history shows that it is Liverpool who have the upper hand. When the teams met at Anfield in November, it was a superior 4-0 victory for the Reds.
Klopp says that they have studied the pictures from that match towards the semifinals.
– Arsenal were in good shape then, but now they are perhaps even better. They play very exciting and entertaining football and Mikel Arteta does a brilliant job there, said Klopp.
Arteta’s team lost to Championship team Nottingham Forest this weekend, but in the Premier League they have shown good form. Among other things, they had Manchester City on their knees before they had to lose with ten men on the field.
– They have young players in the attack and Lacazette in front of them. It’s fun to watch and they have a clear plan. They have improved since last time, although they were good then too. We were just very good that match. It will be a difficult match, said Klopp.
On Wednesday, it became clear that the winner of Liverpool and Arsenal will face Chelsea in the league cup final in February.
